The Platinum Retractable Cover is made of structural aluminum. It has about 40 maintenance-free bearings that roll on the sides and on the guide spiral located in the storage box.
Simply press the button on the latch and be amazed at how smoothly the cover slides off with one hand.

4 or 6 clamps are used depending on the size of the plate that secure the side rails where the cover works. These clamps secure to the edges or side flanges of the bed and for all trucks that come with internal flanges NO drilling is required. Basic tools are used and installation takes around 1-3 hours depending on the vehicle. The space occupied by the roller system is around 23 cm deep x 33 cm at the top (approximately).
On the other hand, it is necessary to drill only on the pickups that do not have internal tabs, but external ones like the reference pickup.
Only some versions come from the factory with these tabs facing out. Inside these vans are some versions of:
Toyota Hilux
Mahindra Pik-Up
Chevrolet D-Max
Nissan Frontier D21, D22.

Most plastics must be cut before the Cover can be installed. These cutouts are shown below depending on the vehicle and model of the protector that include the space for the storage box, sides on the edge of the plate and / or holes for the drain. Some vehicles like the Ford F-150 or Dodge Ram 1500 and 2500 should not be cut in any way as they come below the rails and the storage box portion of the deck does not interfere with the guard.

Our Platinum Retractable Cover does NOT require any kind of professional maintenance. It is recommended to clean the side rail gasket or felt that can accumulate soap between washes.
Additionally you can apply paraffin (candle wax) inside the side rail to give it more smoothness when rolling up the cover. Never use plastic cleaners, protectants, lubricants or greases. Carnauba-based wax is recommended to apply to the deck for added shine.

No. The Platinum Cover has a water resistance that will help keep your plate dry. Aluminum keeps water out, however vehicle manufacturers leave spaces in the bed like drains and holes or spaces that allow water to enter elsewhere like sides or bed gate. In relation to this, the gates of the trays do not have gaskets that seal the entry of water (different from a side door that has 1 and up to 2 gaskets that completely seal from water).
Other trays like in the photo have spaces to put other accessories, which if they are not covered will also have water inlets.
In summary, no bed, or any Cover (whether it is a tent, folding, retractable or fiberglass) on the market can be completely 100% waterproof and anything that can get wet must be additionally protected.
